Sites Like Craigslist
We searched the web for the best sites and came up with this list of Craigslist alternatives.
According to the Pew Research Center, the number of Americans who’ve used online classifieds has more than doubled in the past four years. “On any given day,” the public-opinion researcher reports, “about a tenth of Internet users (9 percent) visit online classified sites, up from 4 percent.” It’s a great time to earn money selling online, getting rid of old stuff for extra cash or buying items at a steal.
There are a lot similar websites but were trying to weed through them all to find the best ones, that actually work great for buying or selling. If you want to place ads and want to look at other places then Craigslist then you came to the right place. Craigslist is the most known but there are many other options that can gain you even better traffic. These websites have more serious buyers and sellers and seem to have a better user base. These are all completely free but if you want you can add some extra features to get your ad advertised more and get more interest.

Backpage – High Traffic
From our research Backpage is the second highest site next to Craigslist as far as traffic and as of last month has 2,816,292 unique monthly visitors. They are the first listing when you think of a Craigslist alternative usually and gain a lot of good traffic.
How Backpage Works
It’s like most other classifieds, you just go and click “post ad” then go to the city you want posted and post there. It is free but note that on some certain city’s in certain sections there is a small fee but every post I ever posted was always completely free so I’m not sure which places charge.
Their Extra Options
If you want to add some extra’s to your post here are some they have
- Auto Repost
You can auto repost your ads if you want the ads to keep running, you can choose between three and thirty days and then you can auto post up to 26 times in a row. Works good if you have items you think will sell good.
- Category Sponsor Ad
For 5 Cents you can have your ad highlighted with thumbnails on the right side under the category section of your choice.
- Post in Multiple Cities
They give you the option to post in multiple cities with a sponsored ad.
- Add HTML – On backpage you can add HTML which is nice if you want to link back to your website. If you’re into SEO it’s also nice for your backlinking campaigns. Also nice for making nice graphics if you’re selling.
- No Phone Verification – on Craigslist you need to have phone verification for your accounts, a nice think about backpage is you don’t need that.
