I remember being told that the first color your Eye sees is Red but there is a new study from Bagchi, Rajesh and Amar Cheema called “The Effect of Red Background Color on Willingness-to-Pay,”
out that shows other effects of Red. The authors were trying to see the effect of adding red vs blue to auctions or negotiations. Data from this study taken from eBay auctions show higher bid jumps from Red vs Blue backgrounds.
The investigation reveals that Red causes arousal and aggression, so people that are addicted to excitement and competition get more aggressive and that raises bids.
It also says that Red has the opposite effect when trying to negotiate or come to an agreement during any kind of negotiations.
